Study & Inquiry
Yoga philosophy, reading, Sanskrit study where appropriate, dialogue, and careful reflection.
We are learning what it means to live our yoga—together.
Some days the lesson begins on the mat. Other days it begins in a garden, over a shared meal, or in a conversation with someone who has something to teach us.
Explore seasonal admissions ↓The Heroic Yogi journey began with my own questions about practice and how to carry what I was learning into everyday life. Today, that journey is becoming a shared apprenticeship. We are still growing as a founder- and volunteer-led school, learning from teachers, neighbors, community partners, and one another.
We return to our books in the Library of Consciousness, develop sādhana (साधना)—personal practice—and keep asking what our experiences are teaching us. We observe, write, serve, and come back to practice. You do not need teaching credentials to begin.

Our classrooms are already appearing in the places where we practice and serve across Milwaukee. We are grateful to the people who welcome us, share what they know, and help this school take root. Apprenticeship field placements are supervised and approved individually; prospective partnerships are not guaranteed placements.
Semester II includes a 100-hour Applied Sevā and Service-Learning Standard, with documented learning and mentor review.
Explore field-learning pathways →If this path speaks to you, we invite you to tell us what you're learning, what you're curious about, and how you hope to contribute. We are building this carefully, with the people and resources we have today.
One or two additional apprentices may join the developing community of practice, subject to orientation and readiness review.
Six to eight new apprentices are planned, dependent on mentor capacity and confirmed community training arrangements.
Our Google Form gathers your interests, availability, and intentions for study and service. Applications are reviewed individually; submission does not guarantee admission, employment, funding, or a placement.

We do not have to know everything to begin. We do need to return, listen, study carefully, and take responsibility for what we learn.
This is a living school. Some offerings are already underway; others are seeds we are tending with our apprentices, volunteers, and partners.
